1. Who we are
EloCoach.ai is operated by Benjamin Marsili, Netherlands (“EloCoach”, “we”, “us”). By using the EloCoach application or website you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service
EloCoach provides AI-powered chess coaching by analysing your Chess.com and Lichess game history and conversing with you through a large language model. The service is provided “as is” for informational and educational purposes. Coaching outputs are generated by AI and should not be relied on as professional instruction.
EloCoach is currently in closed beta and is provided free of charge. Features, availability, and pricing may change before or after general release. We will give reasonable notice of material changes.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use EloCoach. By using the service you represent that you meet this requirement.
4. Your account and content
You are responsible for the accuracy of the Chess.com or Lichess username you provide. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to access, store, and process your game data for the sole purpose of delivering and improving the coaching service.
You retain all rights to your game data. We do not claim ownership of content you provide.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the service or its AI outputs
- Provide false information or impersonate another user
- Use the service to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content
- Circumvent any rate limits, access controls, or usage restrictions
6. Open-source components
EloCoach uses the following open-source chess engines, both licensed under the GNU General Public License v3 (GPLv3). In compliance with GPLv3, you may access the complete source code at the links below. Neither engine is modified for EloCoach; both are used via their standard interfaces.
- Stockfish — a traditional alpha-beta chess engine; provides the objective best move and centipawn evaluations used in game review.
- Maia Chess — a neural network chess engine trained on millions of human games, developed by researchers at the University of Toronto, Microsoft Research, and Cornell University; used to model how human players actually respond in a given position.
7. Intellectual property
All content, design, and software comprising EloCoach (excluding open-source components) is the property of EloCoach.ai and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the service without our written permission.
8. AI-generated content disclaimer
Coaching responses are generated by AI and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your skill level. Always cross-check important chess analysis with a qualified human coach or engine. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on AI outputs.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, EloCoach's total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to these Terms or the service is €0 during the closed beta period. After general release, our liability is limited to amounts paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, loss of data, or loss of profits, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
EU consumer rights. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection legislation in your country of residence, including the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and applicable national law. Statutory warranties and rights that cannot be excluded by contract remain in full force.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to EloCoach at any time for breach of these Terms or if we discontinue the service. You may stop using the service at any time. On termination, provisions that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, limitation of liability, governing law) will continue to apply.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Amsterdam, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
EU residents may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform for cross-border disputes.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notice or email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
